How a post goes out
Direct publishing or Postiz, what happens after approval, the post statuses and the Publish now button.
Updated:
When you approve a post, Sayweek publishes it at the set time. Exactly how depends on the channel's publishing route.
Two publishing routes
- Directly – the post goes to a connected account, without Postiz. This works for LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Bluesky, Threads and Google Business Profile channels.
- Via Postiz – the post goes to Postiz and is published from there.
You choose the route in Settings → Brands & channels, under the channel's Edit button, on the Publishing tab. If both are set, the direct one is used.
What happens after approval?
- In the post editor, click Approve and schedule.
- The post becomes Queued while the app prepares the send.
- It then becomes Approved: on a Postiz channel it's now scheduled in Postiz, on a direct channel it waits for its time.
- At the set time it goes out and becomes Published ✓.
If something fails, the app retries several times; if it still doesn't work, the post gets the Error status. In that case, see Post not published. You can take back an approved post with Revoke (back to draft) – it never deletes a post that's already published.
Postiz mode: test or live
Choose under Postiz mode in Settings → Postiz. In Test mode the approved post goes to Postiz as a draft and isn't published; in Live mode it's scheduled in Postiz and goes out at the set time.
Publish now
In the editor, Publish now (on a phone: Post now) sends the post out right away after you confirm. The channel's cadence rules (gap, count) don't apply then, but the other checks (e.g. banned words) do. Only an owner of the workspace can publish right away; for editors the button is disabled, with the reason underneath. Their approved posts go out at the scheduled time.
