Extra posts and aligning with the rule
Post beyond the plan as an extra, and sort out posts on the wrong day or surplus posts with the align preview – never moving a post more than 14 days.
Updated:
Every channel has a rule: on which days and how often it posts. The Weekly plan measures against it where a post is missing and which post is in the wrong place. If you want to post beyond the rule, keep the post as an extra; if posts have drifted, Align with rule puts them back in place after a preview.
What is an extra?
An extra is a post alongside the plan. It doesn't count towards the channel's rule, doesn't fill a rule slot, gets no rule warnings, and aligning never moves it – it stays where you put it. The ✚ Extra label marks it on cards and in the list. A post sent right away with Publish now becomes an extra by itself.
Marking a post as an extra
- For a new post: if you pick a time in the + New post dialog that isn't one of the channel's time slots, ✚ Extra – alongside the plan is ticked automatically. Untick it to make the post part of the plan.
- For an existing post: in the list view, choose ✚ Extra – alongside the plan in the post's ⋯ menu.
- For a surplus post: on a card labelled Surplus, Keep as an extra next to ⇢ To waiting list keeps the post on this day.
- Back into the plan: in the same menu, ✚ Back into the plan counts the post towards the rule again (and aligning may suggest a new spot for it).
Align with rule
If a week has a post on the wrong day or a surplus post for the rule, the week's gap bar shows the Align with rule button.
- Click Align with rule. If everything is fine, you see: Every post is where the rule wants it.
- The dialog lists each post with the reason (wrong day or surplus), the old place struck through and the suggested new place. The preview doesn't change anything yet.
- Tick the posts the app should touch – All and None help. Unticked posts stay where they are.
- Click Apply selected. To leave them all where they are instead, choose ✚ Keep them all as extras.
The 14-day limit
Aligning never moves a post more than 14 days, always to the closest free slot allowed by the rule (the later one on a tie). If there's no free slot within 14 days, the row says → waiting list · no free spot within 14 days. These rows start unticked; if you tick them anyway, the post goes to the waiting list. You can also choose to keep it as an extra.
