Gmail: post ideas from your email
Connect your Gmail account read-only: once a week Sayweek looks at last week's email and suggests anonymised post ideas.
Updated:
With the Gmail connection, Sayweek looks at last week's email once a week (conferences, finished projects, travel) and suggests post ideas from it. The same connection also provides Google Calendar – you can switch each one on or off per mailbox.
Before you start
- You need the owner or editor role.
- Each mailbox belongs to a brand – if you have several brands, pick the one the email relates to.
- If the hint under How should I connect it? says Sayweek's Google app only reads the calendar, email ideas need your own Google Workspace connection: the owner adds it on the Google Workspaces tab (Connect own Workspace is one click; for another company use + Add another company's Workspace (step by step)).
Connect
- Open Settings → Mail and calendar.
- On the Mailboxes tab, click + Mailbox next to the brand.
- Under How should I connect it?, choose Simply, with a Google account (recommended) or your own Workspace.
- Optionally enter the account in Email address (optional) – Google will suggest it right away.
- Click Continue to Google and leave both boxes ticked there (read mail and calendar).
- Back in Sayweek, switch on Mail in the mailbox row.

What Sayweek reads
- Read-only: it never sends, moves or deletes email. If Google grants wider access than that, the connection isn't saved.
- It looks at the past week's email, skipping chats, spam, trash and the Promotions, Social, Forums and Updates categories.
- Labels, senders, domains and subject words listed on the Exclusions tab are never fetched. Email about contracts, pricing, offers, health and legal matters is always filtered out.
- Only the subject, the date and a redacted snippet go to the AI, without names or email addresses; email text isn't stored.
It runs on Mondays; the first check runs within an hour of connecting. You'll find the ideas under Ideas → From mail & calendar. If something fails, press Recheck: it tells you the exact reason.
Disconnect
- Open Settings → Mail and calendar → Mailboxes.
- To stop only the email ideas, switch off Mail; to remove the mailbox completely, click Disconnect and confirm.
