Outlook mail as an idea source
Coming soonThis feature is coming soon – this guide shows how it will work.
Connect your Microsoft 365 mailbox read-only: every week you get topic ideas from last week's Outlook email.
Updated:
The Outlook connection works like Gmail: every week (Monday) it looks at last week's email and turns it into topic ideas. You connect it with a Microsoft 365 account.
Before you start
You need the owner or editor role. If your organisation doesn't let users approve apps themselves, your Microsoft 365 admin has to approve Sayweek.
Connect
- Open Settings → All integrations and click the Outlook Mail card.
- Click + Connect a Microsoft 365 account (if the account is already connected, click Allow access in its row).
- Sign in at Microsoft and allow reading your mail.
- Back in Sayweek, make sure On is ticked in the account row.
- If you have several brands, choose under Brand which one the ideas are for (default: The first brand).
What Sayweek reads
- Read-only: it never sends, moves or deletes mail.
- Only the subject, the date and Outlook's short preview are processed, without email addresses, phone numbers or names; message bodies aren't even requested.
- Junk, Deleted items, Drafts and Sent items are never read.
- You set exclusions under Settings → Mail and calendar → Exclusions (the Edit exclusions link takes you there); a “label” exclusion means a folder name or category in Outlook.
No need to wait for Monday: Get ideas now runs it right away. The ideas appear under Ideas → From mail & calendar.
Disconnect
- Open Settings → All integrations → Outlook Mail.
- To stop only the email ideas, untick On; to remove the account completely, click Disconnect. This stops every Microsoft feature for that account; ideas already created stay.
