Microsoft 365: one account, four features

One Microsoft account for Outlook e-mail, Outlook calendar, OneDrive photos and Teams transcripts – you switch each one on separately.

Updated:

On the All integrations page, a single Microsoft 365 card brings the Microsoft features together. You connect your account once, then switch the features on one by one – Microsoft only ever asks permission for the one you're switching on. Sayweek only reads: it never sends, changes or deletes anything.

Before you start

  • You need the owner or editor role.
  • With a work or school Microsoft 365 account, every feature is available. With a personal account (outlook.com, hotmail, live), mail, calendar and OneDrive work, but Teams transcripts don't.
  • Signing in with Microsoft (Account tab) is only for logging in – it gives no access to your e-mail or files.

Connect your account

  1. Open Settings → All integrations and click the Microsoft 365 card.
  2. Under Connected accounts, click Connect a Microsoft 365 account (if there's one already: + Another Microsoft account).
  3. Sign in at Microsoft with your account.
  4. Back in Sayweek, the account appears in the list with its type (Work / school account or Personal account) and how many features use it.
Settings → All integrations: integration cards in groups, including the Microsoft 365 card.

Features one by one

Under Features, every feature has its own row: a switch, a status and a Settings section. That's where you find the feature's own settings, the Test connection button and the help link. You don't have to connect an account first: if you switch a feature on straight away, Microsoft asks which account to use.

  • Outlook e-mail ideas – weekly post ideas from your e-mail, using only the subject, the date and a redacted preview. See Outlook mail.
  • Outlook calendar – travel, time off, events; titles and times only. See Outlook Calendar.
  • OneDrive / SharePoint photos – images for your posts from OneDrive or SharePoint. See OneDrive / SharePoint.
  • Teams meeting transcripts – post ideas from your Teams meeting transcripts, anonymised. See Teams meeting transcripts.

What the statuses mean

  • Active – switched on and working.
  • Off – not switched on; use the switch to turn it on at any time.
  • Needs an extra permission – your account is connected, but this feature needs one more permission. Switching it on asks for this only; the other features don't change.
  • Needs your organisation's admin – your organisation's Microsoft 365 admin needs to approve Sayweek once (see below).
  • Not available with personal accounts – Microsoft doesn't provide this for personal accounts; it needs a work or school account.
  • Private beta – the feature is still waiting for Microsoft's approval; until then only invited test accounts can switch it on. The other features aren't affected.
  • Needs attention – switched on, but something isn't right; the row's Settings show the reason.
  • Coming soon – not switched on on this server yet.

When your organisation's admin has to approve

To read Teams transcripts (OnlineMeetingTranscript.Read.All), Microsoft asks for a one-time approval by the organisation's admin. The Teams meeting transcripts row then shows Needs your organisation's admin. Some organisations keep the other permissions with the admin too – the steps are the same.

  1. Open the row's Settings – the Admin approval needed box with the approval link is there.
  2. Click Copy message for your admin and send the copied text to your IT team or Microsoft 365 admin. If you only need the link, use Copy link.
  3. Your admin opens the link (login.microsoftonline.com), signs in with their own admin account and approves Sayweek for the organisation once – about a minute.
  4. Once your admin tells you it's done, click Switch on (if your admin has approved it), or switch the row on.
  5. Microsoft won't ask for approval again: the row shows Active. Your admin can revoke the approval at any time in Entra ID (Enterprise applications → Sayweek).

Personal Microsoft accounts

With an outlook.com, hotmail or live account, Outlook mail, Outlook calendar and OneDrive work just the same. Microsoft only provides Teams meeting transcripts for work or school accounts, though, so that row shows Not available with personal accounts. If you also have a work account, connect it with + Another Microsoft account.

Disconnect

  1. Open Settings → All integrations and click the Microsoft 365 card.
  2. To stop one feature, switch off the switch in its row. To remove the account completely, click Disconnect next to it under Connected accounts and confirm – this stops every feature of that account; ideas already created stay.
