Google Calendar: location and type of day

Sayweek reads where you are and what kind of day it is (travel, time off, events) from Google Calendar, and adapts your posts to it.

Updated:

Once Google Calendar is connected, Sayweek knows where you are each day (travel, time off, conferences), so it adapts posts to the local time zone and the type of day, and suggests post ideas from your events. The calendar uses the same connection as Gmail.

Before you start

You need the owner or editor role. The calendar doesn't need your own Google Workspace: you can connect it with any Google account through Sayweek's Google app.

Connect

  1. Open Settings → Mail and calendar.
  2. On the Mailboxes tab, click + Mailbox next to the brand.
  3. Under How should I connect it?, choose Simply, with a Google account (recommended).
  4. Click Continue to Google and allow reading your calendar.
  5. Back in Sayweek, check that Calendar is switched on in the mailbox row.

What Sayweek reads

  • Read-only: nothing is written to your calendar.
  • It looks for a city in event titles and locations; if it's in a different time zone from your home, that day counts as away.
  • Only the city and the type of day are stored, not the event text.
  • For the weekly ideas, last week's and next week's events are passed to the AI, without names.

Your location is refreshed every six hours. Travel suggestions appear under Ideas → From mail & calendar; your home and trips are on Settings → Home and travel.

Disconnect

  1. Open Settings → Mail and calendar → Mailboxes.
  2. Switch off Calendar, or click Disconnect to remove the whole mailbox.
