Ideas from your Slack or Teams β€œwins” channel

What the team celebrates lands in the ideas box – in Slack only messages marked with the πŸ“£ reaction, in Teams those that mention @Sayweek.

Updated:

A new client, a finished project, an award – teams usually share these in one channel. Sayweek turns them into post ideas: without the names of colleagues mentioned, crediting the author as the source.

Slack

  1. Settings β†’ All integrations β†’ Slack β†’ in the ideas part, click Add Sayweek to Slack and pick the workspace.
  2. Pick up to 3 public channels (e.g. #wins), then Save.
  3. When someone adds a πŸ“£ reaction to a message, Sayweek picks it up into the ideas box within a few hours. You can change the emoji.

Microsoft Teams

  1. Settings β†’ All integrations β†’ Teams notifications (webhook) β†’ ideas: Create address, then copy the address.
  2. In Teams: β‹― next to the team name β†’ Manage team β†’ Apps β†’ Create an outgoing webhook; name: Sayweek, callback URL: the copied address.
  3. Copy the security token Teams shows, and paste it in Sayweek.
  4. Write in the channel: @Sayweek and what you'd share – Sayweek confirms, and the idea goes to the ideas box.

For the operator: setting up the Slack app

If the Slack part says the app isn't switched on yet, the Sayweek operator has to create the Sayweek Slack app once at api.slack.com/apps: bot scopes channels:read, channels:join, channels:history, reactions:read, users:read; redirect URL /api/slack/callback; public distribution on; the Client ID and Client Secret into SLACK_CLIENT_ID and SLACK_CLIENT_SECRET. Teams needs no operator set-up.
