UTM links and website traffic
Link tracking per brand: UTM parameters and a short link for every link, click counts, visitors and conversions from Google Analytics 4.
Updated:
When your posts link to your website, Sayweek shows how many clicks, visitors and conversions each post brought. For that, switch on link tracking for the brand – and for visitors and conversions, connect Google Analytics 4 as well.
What link tracking does
- At publishing time, every link in the post (and in the first comment) gets UTM parameters:
utm_source= the platform (e.g.linkedin),utm_medium=social,utm_campaign= the brand's campaign name,utm_content= the post's id. - The link is replaced by a Sayweek short link that counts the clicks – they show up as Link clicks.
- If a link already has its own
utm_parameters, they are left as they are.
Switch it on
- Open Settings → Brands & channels.
- Click Edit brand on the brand.
- Under Link tracking (UTM + short link), switch on Link tracking.
- Optionally enter your own campaign name in the
utm_campaignfield (empty: the brand name), then click Save.
Visitors and conversions from Google Analytics
Connect Google Analytics 4 – see Google Analytics 4. It asks for read-only access, refreshes daily and looks at the last 90 days. Then Analytics → Website shows Visits from posts, Engaged, Conversions and Revenue, the list Posts that brought visitors and the chart Social visits per day, by source.
Why does a post show no visitors?
Check that link tracking was on for the brand when the post went out, and that the post links to your website. Google Analytics data is refreshed daily, so new visits show up the next day.
