Video studio: music, captions, trimming and finishing in Instagram
Coming soonThis feature is coming soon – this guide shows how it will work.
Royalty-free music or your own audio, captions from speech, trimming, filters and text – your original video is kept. For trending audio: finish in Instagram.
Updated:
The Video studio is available for video posts in the editor's Video section. Here you add music, captions, text and a filter to the video and turn it into a vertical, 1080×1920, Reels-ready file. Every setting is just a description: your original video is kept, so you can re-edit it or go back to it at any time.
Opening the studio
- Open the video post and click Open the studio on the Video studio card below the video.
- On the left you see the live preview, on the right the Trim, Look, Music, Captions and Text tabs. The studio saves your changes by itself.
- When you're done, click Render video. Feel free to keep working while the video is being made.
Trim, look and cover
- Trim: use the sliders or the Start here / End here buttons to choose the part to keep. The studio tells you when the length is too short or too long for one of your channels.
- Look: pick one of seven subtle filters. For a landscape video you also choose whether the whole picture shows over a blurred background or fills the frame.
- Cover: Use this frame as the cover makes the preview's current frame the cover. It is kept on the rendered video too, shifted with the trim.
Music and your own audio
On the Music tab, choose from the Music library's own royalty-free tracks by mood; each one can be previewed and used freely on any channel. With Your own audio you upload your own file (MP3, M4A, WAV, OGG or FLAC, up to 50 MB) – first you confirm that you have the right to use it.
- Music volume and Original sound (speech): the balance of the two.
- Lower music under speech: while someone speaks, the music gets quieter by itself (Light, Medium or Strong) and comes back in the pauses.
Captions
- On the Captions tab, click Captions from speech. If needed, choose the spoken language first.
- The captions appear split into short, easy-to-read lines. You can change the text and timing of any of them, add new ones or delete them.
- Choose a style (Outline, Box, Brand colour, Pop), a position and a size. Captions use your brand's font and colours.
Text on the video
On the Text tab you can put up to five texts on the video (in the Title, Label or Brand colour style) and set when they appear. A short title in the first seconds helps a lot to stop the scroll.
Rendering the video
After Render video, the post uses the edited video (H.264/AAC, 1080×1920), and that's what is published. If you change something later, click Render again. Use the original video takes you back to the original; your settings are kept.
Finish in Instagram
Trending audio, stickers, polls and collab invites can only be added in the Instagram app. For those, Finish in Instagram… hands you the finished video and the text, and you finish in the app.
- On your phone, send the video to Instagram with Share…; on a computer, save it with Download video. The post text goes to your clipboard as well.
- In Instagram, paste the text, add the audio or sticker, and post.
- Paste the link of the published post and click Mark as published.
